On EFU second homes...

Two Legal Homes on EFU Property = a Rarity

The majority of real estate brokers may not realize that Two Legal EFU Homes are a rarity because they do not understand the Oregon EFU zoning laws. Some may even tell you that it won't be a problem to build a second home on an EFU property... be advised about these two situations:
1) a farm help structure can only be used seasonally; and

2) a relative structure can only be used by relatives for the purpose of farm help.

What these two situations have in common is that significant restrictions exist that preclude the property owner from enjoying the rights that come with a Legal Second Dwelling. We estimate that a second EFU home can easily add to the value of an EFU property by $200,000.
